This is an archive of Balkan and Slavic folk music. I have loved this kind of music since my days in the Yale Slavic Chorus in the 1970s. I was later in Born to Drone, which was a small group in the San Francisco Bay Area. But I have never found a centralized source of this music online, so I decided to create one.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: If you like this archive, we ask you to help us maintain it. Report any errors to us, and send us folksongs, lyrics, notation, translations, or transliterations that are not already posted. We are in the process of tagging the songs for region. A note on copyright issues: This archive consists of folksongs contributed by many individuals who have passed this music on to me. So far as we know, none of these songs enjoys any copyright protection. Some appear to be from printed materials, but long out of print and not available for sale. Where the materials appeared to be from a book or magazine, I have tried to find copyright registrations or notices, and deleted any that appear to be burdened with unexpired copyright restrictions.
